(#029) And then what?

Yesterday marked the official launch of Jam Nation — in Milan, and, in spirit, anywhere else. It was the first event of its kind.

I’ve written before about my journey with Jam Nation — when I chose it as my next adventure, upon the one year anniversary of its launch, and upon the recent realization that the launch wasn’t about proving anything — it was about celebrating the work.

Given its significance, this moment would deserve a fuller account on its weight in my personal trajectory. But it’s too early — barely 24 hours have passed — and I feel the first impression might not do it justice.

But I will say this:

The world hasn’t changed.

It could still go on without Jam Nation. (A little bit sadder, perhaps, but it would survive.)

I wasn’t also expecting a life-altering event or some kind of emotional surge. And yet, there’s something undeniable — a feeling of initiation, a designation ceremony.

Something existed. And it continues to exist in exactly the same way. But now, it’s made known.

It’s not unlike a coming-of-age celebration, a housewarming, a graduation, a wedding. Technically, nothing changes the day after. But also — somehow — everything does.
