(#015) Move to the big city

When I launched Jam Nation almost exactly a year ago, one of the core principles of my renewed venture into entrepreneurship was that it had to take me to places that truly resonated with me. My new adventures had to align with my desire to see the world—especially certain corners of it.

London was on that list, and this week marked my second visit for an agenda primarily driven by Jam Nation.

I had my share of business meetings, caught up with old friends, spent a bit of time furthering my investigation into the city’s cost and quality of living (and their ratio!), successfully hit all my fitness and diet targets (not an easy feat when constantly on the road), and even caught Eliane Elias’ last set at Ronnie Scott’s.

But the most meaningful part of the trip was how productive I was during my hours at my hot desk in WeWork.

I didn’t need to be in London to do that part of the work. But I’m certain I wouldn’t have done it elsewhere.

There was was something about being—and feeling—in the right place that elevated my productivity.

When they say, “Move to the big city,” you’d best listen.
